Song of Solomon 2:4
He has brought me to the banquet hall, and his banner over me is love.
Today I am thankful for a God who designed me, chose me before I was born and loves me so much that He has a banner over me, announcing His love for me to the entire world. That’s powerful. Think about that for a minute. The creator of the universe loves us enough to put His love on display for everyone to see.
As much as I know this verse to be true, sometimes I struggle to really feel it. You know what I’m talking about here. I can say with my mouth that God loves me, but sometimes my heart is hurting too much to feel it. Sometimes my circumstances make me question how a God who loves me doesn’t intervene and change things on my behalf.
Every time those negative thoughts enter my mind, I get very intentional about sitting, closing my eyes and saying this to myself, “God. I love you. Thank you for loving me. THANK YOU for loving me. I KNOW you love me. I know you love every part of my being. Thank you for being with me, no matter what the circumstances. And thank you for loving me with a love that is more precious than any other love I’ve ever experienced. Help me to fully experience and know the extent of your great love for me. And help me to show that love to the people I touch every day.”
Friends, I hope each of you experiences the breadth and depth of God’s incredible love for you. Sit and meditate on it. Believe it. Speak it. Look in the mirror and proclaim that you are loved DEEPLY by our most holy God. Do this until you really feel it in your soul and walk in the confidence that the God of the universe, the God who created you loves you more than you could ever imagine.
